So, what exactly is FearTales? Well to put it simply, this is a writing forum. Specifically, for horror/science fiction. At first glance, it seems like you are expected to read/write horror, or things that are particularly meant to be scary. While that is a part of the site, it isn't the only genre you are limited to. If you'd like to write a story about, say, a dystopian society, you may very well do that. There is a section for science fiction, and there is a section for horror. There is also a section for any other genre, if you want to stray away from horror or science fiction. Maybe you want to write a drama, or a romance, or high fantasy, you may do so! You are not limited on what you write here!
