Basil was created between the unwanted love of a halfblood named Lunalesca Adams and a pureblood wizard named Argus Snape. Argus was a wizard that didn't like the way the wizarding world treated the other magical races...he was unable to speak of this outright, but wrote several papers against the idea they they shouldn't have wands and the racial hate against those who weren't of..."Pure Blood". His papers earned him the ire of several of the pureblood families...which was why he lived isolated from the magical world with his wife.

Argus had the child born in their home...not trusting the mages of St. Mungos to take care of his baby boy, knowing his own way around with medical magic due to his research. It was on that day that Basil Snape was born. For six years Argus was able to take care of his child...teaching him important things...that some of the wizarding world would never accept him...but he should be proud of his mixed blood. To protect him, he taught them some muggle ways that he learned to hide what they were to the local village...and sent the young man to the school at the local muggle village. Basil was happy with their parents, and understood what kind of things could happen if their secret got out...though no magical abilites came out in them yet. However...on the eve of their seventh birthday...disaster would happen.

Basil was about to leave school that day..when the teacher held them back...Basil wasn't sure what was going on...however after an hour...the police came to the school...what they had to tell them was that their father died..and their mom was missing. Basil was heartbroken...the police put out a bulletin for Lunalesca Snape...accusing her of the murder...but this must have been what their father was afraid of...Basil knew in their heart...wizards had killed their father...and took their mother to cover their tracks. No...more than likely she was already dead. Life after that was worse than ever before...Basil was bounced from orphanage to orphanage...stealing to keep themselves hidden from others, getting into fights with kids who felt like they had a right to pick on others just because of how they looked...keeping their secret just like their father told them to. It wasn't until they turned nine that they finally decided to run away...not matter how many times the police took their back to the orphanages.

It was when they turned 10 that they found out that they was able to do magic...and met the headmaster of Hogwarts, who offered them a place at the school of magic. With the money that was offered for kids that didn't have parents...and their own hard work through out the town, Basil would attend Hogwarts to learn all about magic that they could...and find out who killed their family...and end them with their own hands.
