Serafina spent most of her...normal life in a normal school, coming home and watching her mother build violins...her mother always told her she learned from some of the best makers...but her mother would never tell her who it was...but Serafina knew that her mother loved making and selling them...music was their life for the two of them...as Serafina wanted to learn and become a fantastic violinist...however her father wanted her to become a diplomat.

Jonathan was a american diplomat...she only saw him roughly 3 months out of the year...but while her mother liked him...Serafina didn't...he was a crude man. He smoked and always spoke ill about their home, but Ekaterina wouldn't leave it...it had too many memories in it for her. Serafina ignored her father's wishes, practicing dancing, singing and playing the violin.

On her 21st birthday, her mother gave Serafina a new violin...and one her teacher made for her. It was supposed to be a small trip to a rural town for a show...but the news traveled fast that her father, was stealing secrets from the Russian government and her mother attempted to stop him when she found the paperwork in his suitcase. Her family home burned down...mother dying in the fire...her father was caught by the authorities and taking to jail.

Serafina attempted to make it back to Moscow...but along her travel on foot...she was attacked...by something that only the legends could explain as a werewolf...at first she thought it was silly...the wolf had grazed her back badly...but was scared off by a hunter who helped her back to the village she played at...from then...her life has been a living hell...every full moon she turns into a heartless beast...never allowed to have a meaningful relationship with another person...and her aging seemed to have slowed down as well. She travels around the world she can get to, still attempting to live her life for her and her mother while trying to work out how to keep the inner beast under control...
