super adorable rival/friends please!!! (but mostly friends)
they're both quidditch players and both have dreams of playing pro quidditch. rebecca encourages sam endlessly because she's SO GOOD at the game how can she not go pro?? who cares that her folks aren't magical?? even though they're on opposing teams I can see them practising with each other all the time. racing against each other to see who can do the stupid broom courses faster. I see them trading their chocolate frog cards back and forth, but only quidditch players because who cares about who brewed the first polyjuice potion. they can talk about the newest edition to the hollyhead harpies and how that's totally gonna be them one day. ducky jokes that she's gonna get on a team first because she's a year ahead, but that sam has to come to every single game.
rebecca begged endlessly for her mom to get just another ticket to the quidditch world cup (her mom is a quidditch journalist) because how could samantha NOT go. it's not fair that she's a muggleborn and her family can't take her!! they can't even find information about it!! there's gotta be a way for her boss to give her one more ticket!! what if they just left dad at home?? her mom laughed at how had she was gunning for it. if she had just asked once, that's all she needed. she agreed that it wasn't fair and that she'd be more than happy to take samantha with them if her guardians approved, as long as ducky promised to watch her and make sure her friend didn't get lost. (the world cup would've happened this year in june over their summer break. The USA won the actual real people one and Pottermore doesn't have a fictional one like they did for '14, dunno if we use the real people one or not but if we are...) sam's home country won!!
ducky is also there READY TO FIGHT!!! people who insult samantha about her blood status. slytherins making rude comments after losing games to samatha PRO keeping abilties??? meet rebecca's fist in your face. sure, she got a penalty even though she wasn't playing that day so she's barred from playing next week, but it was TOTALLY worth it to her.
if/when rebecca finds/found out that sam's parents disowned her, she's absolutely disgusted by it. how could your parents do that to you?? she's so happy sam's aunt/uncle took her in and let her go to school because how else would they have met? if/when her parents do come back into the picture ducky is 100% ready to just steal samantha and hide her in her closet so her folks can't get to her.
